The BBC is a major cheerleader for global warming, and environmentalism in general. I only just noticed that they list 'Science & Environment' as one of their topics. I'm not sure if this is because environmentalism doesn't quite warrant its own page, or because they want to link science with environmentalism, or perhaps even because science and environmentalism are quite distinct.
I realise it is a small point, but it is clearly a fairly significant decision. It makes the whole menu bar quite a bit wider.
Meanwhile on an unrelated note it is reported that the UK may cut VAT:
Widespread press reports suggest Mr Darling will temporarily
cut VAT by 2.5% to 15% - the lowest level allowed under EU law - in an
effort to boost consumer spending.
Only in Europe would they pass a law for a minimum tax rate. This is the Europe where New Zealand is a joke, by the way.
