"Every time a bit of ice slides into the sea..." they say the ice is melting. Of course the alternative to that is that more ice is being dumped into the ocean because more is being produced. But naturally they don't think of that.

That's right - I suppose because ice slipping into the sea makes a great picture, but just watching snow come down is nowhere near as exciting.
