The president, who made the headlines by holding an underwater meeting recently, has now announced a new land reclamation project.
During the function, the President spoke on the negative effects of global warming and climate change. He said that it was necessary to create land to protect the Maldives for future generations.
This doesn't make any sense. If your land is about to slip under the waves, you need to bolster the level of what you have, not create yet more regions barely above sea level.
Surely the President will have figured this out himself. He has probably also read the evidence that in fact the Maldives is not sinking, although given the global warming eco-cash that he hopes to extract from the likes of Gordon "flat-earther" Brown I suspect he has trouble remembering the evidence from one day to the next.
In fact I think it is fair to say that global warming could be the Maldives' meal ticket for decades to come, if it plays its cards right.
Expect a lot more underwater meetings, then. Perhaps we could flood Downing Street next time?
