Now I'm sure Helen Clark isn't the only one who loves Photoshop, so this post is not going to be entirely fair. But it would be a brave punter who would argue that HC's photo for the past many years bears much resemblance to the real deal.
This one is taken from Labour's web site a few moments ago.
The HOS reports that the latest one is more in keeping with reality, but then contradicts itself by putting the real one in front of the fake.
So let's get down to brass tacks. Helen Clark is not an ugly woman. There certainly are photos about, which are not entirely flattering, such as this one:
But with a smile and a bit of light and happiness, a good photo can be had. So why the Photoshop? Why the extreme Photoshop job? Is it the teeth? It's hard to think of what else you would want to change. But come back to the original, who are they kidding? This sort of thing is not phtography, it is art.
I haven't seen a close-up of the new billboards yet, but let's hope for a more true-to-life image of our leader for the past 9 years. Assuming Ms Clark does lose the election, I believe she will be fairly fondly remembered after a period, and the above photo has done nothing for her credibility.
