The Sunday Star Times is not my favourite newspaper. It may once have been a reasonable read, It is also quite reasonably priced on subscription. But around the time of the last election it ran a front page story comparing Don Brash with Pauline Hanson's One Nation party in Australia. I think this was because of his Orewa speech. I cancelled my subscription at that point and haven't seen anything yet to change my decision.
Having said that, we do get the paper once a month, and today was one of those days. I saw a shocking expose by Nicky Hager, which sent me straight back into the arms of good-old honest and transparent Labour. I promise to never listen to another word from John Key's lips.
Here, in case you are wavering in your support for the correct party, is just a taste of what Nicky Hager has discovered:
Newly-elected nasty and secretive National leader John 'evil hollow man hidden agenda rich prick' Key sought his first meeting with Crosby/Textor/The Devil in 2006 around the time of the full moon equinox where farm animals were noticeably uneasy. Just last month, in what can only be described as a creepy conincience, Crosby/Textor controlled the public image of Conservative lunatic candidate Boris 'Dangerous right wing nut' Johnson to help him illicitly win the London mayoralty from its rightful and popular owner Ken Livingstone, who had only just finished making London into the wonderful city it is today. The company's other high powered clients have included Telstra which is a big evil corporation, British American Tobacco which sells banned substances to children and Qantas which is one of the major contributors to global warming. It is clear that The Devil will force people to vote for someone that they don't want to vote for really, against their will. When they wake up after the election, they will wish they had not cancelled their subscription to the SST.
Read it for yourself. I think the technical term is smear. Others may take the article apart, if they think it worth it. There isn't enough meat for me to gnaw on.
UPDATE: At least one left winger has fallen for it - go here for more breathless paragraphs!
UPDATE 2: Here we go, here we go, here we go, you know the song. They are getting very excited over at the standard. Looks like Labour will win the election after all. Here are just some of he words waiting for you: dirtiest, dog-whistle racism, attack politics, politics of division. dirty and venall, Tampa incident, push-polling, personal attacks
